Undergraduate Professional Development Program

The Undergraduate Professional Development Program offers undergraduate students experiential learning, mentorship, and exceptional preparation for careers in art, in public and private institutions alike through paid part-time employment opportunities.

  • The Gallery Guide role trains students for careers in arts administration, arts education, and museum leadership. As docents and visitor services associates, students play an essential role guiding visiting students, faculty and the community through the exhibitions. Using the most forward-thinking pedagogical methods within the field of arts education, Gallery Guides make the exhibitions accessible and engaging for a range of audiences.
  • The Assistant Preparator role trains students for careers in exhibition production and design. Gaining hand-on experience in exhibition installation, maintenance and deinstallation through carpentry, art handling, A/V, painting and general exhibition preparation, students build a deep understanding of the behind-the-scenes care of artworks and play an important role in realizing the vision of exhibiting artists.
  • The Communications and Events Production Assistant role spans exhibition production, communications and events, making it an excellent opportunity for a multi-faced student seeking a well-rounded introduction to arts administration.
